All of us share some basic needs. We all have lots of the same needs and wants. Once you meet these needs of other people, they would be likely to be so easy to cope with. With practice, patience, and a eagerness to understand other people, you could develop strong people management skills.

Here are 7 good techniques to make your people management skills stronger:
1. Put yourself in their shoes. Would you like to be a manager if you’re on their situation? Great managers recognize what people think and feel. They are quick to pick-up on things and really work very hard to resolve issues among their team. Try to ask yourself if you are willing to do the same.
2. Show appreciation and gratitude. You may feel grateful of your team. However, without action they will never know it. Be on the look-out for exciting and new ways to show these emotions at all times.
3. Give honest compliments. Think on what you really like on your team and make these things out as usual compliments. If you are honest and sincere, chances are that the receiver will feel your true appreciation.
4. Respect other people. Try hard to always respect people, no matter what kind of life they have. Treat them just like the way you would want to be treated. This shows strength and character, both are characteristics of a person with superior people skills.
5. Delegate appropriately. Once you give the right responsibilities to the right people, everybody would get a chance to excel and your team will work together at its best. This will raise the confidence of the people around you and inspires them to perform a good job.
6. Be honest. If you have ever been caught in a lie, you know how fast you could lose the trust of the people around you. Maintaining and earning trust is an essential people management skill. If people trust you, they believe in you as well, and your ideas mean more to them.
7. Listen carefully. Listening is 50% of communication. Listen to what people are telling you. Try to understand their opinions, even if you do not agree with it. If they feel that you are considering their feelings as important, you have already won half the battle.
Practice these methods each day in your communications with other people, and one day soon you will find that more and more people agree with you!
