Viktor Axelsen has reclaimed the throne at the All England Championships, with this victory holding even more significance than his previous title. The world was a very different place when the Danish badminton champion first ruled over Birmingham. Now, he was able to savor the moment along with thousands of spectators and, most importantly, his partner Natalia and daughter Vega.

Axelsen expressed his elation, stating, “It feels phenomenal. At the Denmark Open, I truly realized the value of having my daughter in the stands after my win. Today was something extraordinary. She was running around in her YONEX skirt, understanding that her dad was giving his all on the court. My fiancée Natalia has done an incredible job taking care of her, and I am truly grateful to her.”

Since the birth of Vega in October 2020, Axelsen’s achievements have been exceptional. He clinched the Olympic gold medal and now boasts a total of seven BWF World Tour titles. Fatherhood seems to have brought out the best in him both on and off the court.
Axelsen faced some challenges heading into the final, as he had seven fewer hours to recover compared to his opponent, Lakshya Sen. However, it appeared that Sen had expended a great deal of energy in his semifinal match against Lee Zii Jia, which went on for 86 minutes.
Axelsen displayed an exceptional level of gameplay throughout the tournament, not dropping a single set in Birmingham. He had significantly elevated his physical and mental intensity since the German Open the previous week.

In the final, Sen struggled to match Axelsen’s prowess and was soundly defeated with a score of 21-10, 21-15. It was a hard-learned lesson for Sen, highlighting the level of skill and dedication required to stay at the top.
Reflecting on his achievement, Axelsen shared his joy, saying, “I’m super happy. When I started playing badminton, I never dreamt of winning two All England titles, and I still have many more years ahead of me, hopefully. The atmosphere was absolutely amazing today. Lakshya is a fantastic player, a young talent whom I know well. I wish him all the best, and I hope we have many more epic battles in the future.”
