Badminton Pan America

Badminton Pan America is a continental organization that is dedicated to the development of badminton in the region. One of the key figures in this organization is Delia Valenzuela, who has been actively involved in promoting and growing the sport for several years. She is the Development Assistant of Badminton Pan Am Confederation and has a deep appreciation for the opportunities that badminton has provided her both personally and professionally.

Celebrating Women in Badminton

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Badminton Pan Am is highlighting outstanding women in the sport through a series of interviews called The Pan Am Women’s Month. Delia’s journey in badminton began while she was a student at university. She enrolled in a workshop for badminton promoters organized by the Peruvian badminton federation and had the chance to meet influential figures in the sport, including Mrs. Pilar Carrillo and Mr. German Valdez. Although she was initially apprehensive about badminton, she found it to be a fun and exciting sport by the end of the workshop.

A Growing Passion

As Delia became more involved in badminton, she started promoting the sport at her university. With the support of the federation, she organized an exhibition to introduce badminton to her fellow students. Over the years, Delia’s dedication and hard work led her to the Pan Am Badminton Confederation. Previously, she worked at the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD), where she frequently interacted with Mrs. Pilar Carrillo. Later, she received a job opportunity at the Pan-American Confederation and accepted it, joining the organization’s team in Lima.

Breaking Barriers and Building Connections

Delia acknowledges that the environment we live in shapes our character and influences how we interact with others. Through badminton, she has had the opportunity to meet and work with people from different countries, which has opened her mind and heart to new friends and experiences. Initially a shy and self-conscious individual, Delia has become more outgoing and open-minded through the cultural exchange that badminton has facilitated.

Embracing Opportunities

Delia encourages women to overcome their fears and take advantage of the opportunities that come their way. She understands that many people limit themselves due to various fears and insecurities, but she believes that by trying, making mistakes, and trying again, personal growth is achieved. Delia’s motto is to keep trying until one succeeds, as each attempt brings new knowledge and experiences that help in personal development.

Gratitude and Passion

With eight years of experience with Badminton Pan Am, Delia looks back on her journey with gratitude. She acknowledges Mrs. Pilar and Mr. German for giving her the opportunity to be part of the Pan American Confederation team. Delia also appreciates the entire Badminton Pan Am team for their shared passion for the sport, as it fosters a collaborative and supportive environment. Through the collective expertise and experiences of the team members, they are able to organize and execute activities that contribute to the growth of badminton in the region.
