BWF AGM 2024 Planning Deadline for Proposals / Nominations

We are excited to announce that the BWF Annual General Meeting 2024 will take place in Chengdu, China, on Saturday, April 27, 2024. This will be followed by the Members’ Forum on Friday, April 26, 2024.

For those attending the meeting in Chengdu, there is also the opportunity to witness top-level badminton at the TotalEnergies BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals 2024, scheduled from April 28 to May 5, 2024.

Deadline for Proposals and Nominations for Elections

According to Clause 15.1 of the Constitution, we would like to inform all members that the deadline for proposals and nominations for the AGM 2024 is midnight KL time on Friday, January 5, 2024.

Please note that there will be an election during the AGM 2024 to fill a casual vacancy on the BWF Council. To meet the Geographical and Gender Representation Requirements, as stated in Clauses 2 and 3 of Appendix I of the Constitution, only women from Europe can be nominated for the election.

Any Member in Good Standing is eligible to nominate or second nominations for the elections. Please refer to the information below on the nomination process.

Key Dates towards the AGM 2024

Here are the key dates to remember leading up to the AGM 2024:

  • Friday, January 5, 2024: Deadline for proposals (16 weeks out)
  • Tuesday, January 31, 2024: Deadline for BWF subscriptions 2024
  • Friday, March 8, 2024: Notice of the AGM/agenda/annual report (7 weeks out)
  • Friday, March 22, 2024: Deadline for amendments to proposals (5 weeks out)
  • Friday, April 26, 2024: Members’ Forum 2024
  • Saturday, April 27, 2024: BWF AGM

Nominations for Elections to Fill the Casual Vacancy

Only Members in Good Standing are eligible to nominate or second nominees for election to the Council as per the BWF Constitution, Clauses 7.25, 18.3, and 18.4.

For each nomination, a Member must submit Forms A and B to the BWF, along with a Seconding Letter from a different Member Association. Form C, which will be available in early December 2023, needs to be sent directly to the Vetting Officer responsible for the administration of the Vetting Process. All these documents must be submitted no later than midnight on January 5, 2024.

Vetting of Nominees

Each nominee will undergo vetting by the Independent Vetting Panel, as per the BWF Constitution Appendix II – Vetting Rules. This is to determine the nominee’s eligibility based on the criteria outlined in clause 2 (Eligibility). For the vetting rules and processes, please refer to Appendix II.
