The OUE Singapore Open 2017 witnessed an exciting turn of events as the experienced players took on the rising stars in the Men’s Doubles category. Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen from Denmark, who are recognized as the “old men” of the game, managed to put an end to the winning streak of Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo from Indonesia. The Indonesian duo had won all three titles on the MetLife BWF World Superseries tour this season, but Boe and Mogensen proved to be a formidable challenge.

With a tactical approach, Boe and Mogensen focused on pressuring Gideon while keeping Sukamuljo at the baseline. Their strategy paid off, as they won the match with a score of 11-21, 21-11, 21-14. Boe humorously shared their game plan, stating, “Keep Kevin at the baseline and put pressure on Marcus. That’s how all nations should play them.” The Danish pair’s victory showcased their physical prowess and ability to adapt to different game situations.

In the Women’s Doubles category, Kamilla Rytter Juhl and Christinna Pedersen from Denmark demonstrated their determination and skill by defeating their Korean rivals, Chang Ye Na and Lee So Hee. The Danish duo, who have faced difficulties against their opponents in the past, secured a solid victory with a score of 28-26, 21-11. Rytter Juhl expressed their satisfaction with the win, highlighting the challenges they have overcome against their Korean counterparts.

Despite a tough draw, Rytter Juhl and Pedersen are now looking forward to the final against top seeds Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi from Japan. Matsutomo and Takahashi emerged victorious in their match against Jung Kyung Eun and Shin Seung Chan from Korea. The Japanese pair, who had to withdraw from last year’s final due to injury, expressed their excitement for the opportunity to compete again and strive for victory.

In the Mixed Doubles category, Korea faced disappointment as Kim Gi Jung and Shin Seung Chan lost to Lu Kai and Huang Yaqiong from China. The Chinese pair, who have been performing consistently well this season, won with a score of 16-21, 21-17, 21-12. Lu Kai and Huang Yaqiong will now face Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai from Thailand in the final.

The OUE Singapore Open 2017 has been an exciting tournament, showcasing the skills and determination of players from around the world. The upcoming finals promise to be intense and thrilling as the top-ranked players battle for victory.
