The BWF World Tour came to an exciting close at the BLIBLI Indonesia Open 2018, where Indonesian badminton players showcased their skills and brought honor to their country.

Indonesian Champions Shine

Olympic and World champions Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir successfully defended their Mixed Doubles title, overpowering Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying. The Men’s Doubles duo, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo, also claimed victory in a dominant performance against Takuto Inoue and Yuki Kaneko.

Delight for Indonesian Fans

Expressing their joy, Ahmad and Natsir credited their win to the people of Indonesia. Gideon and Sukamuljo, known for their exceptional teamwork, displayed their superior skills on the court. Inoue and Kaneko acknowledged their opponents’ higher level of play and expressed their determination to improve.

Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota captured the Women’s Doubles title after a fierce battle against their Japanese compatriots, Mayu Matsumoto and Wakana Nagahara. Fukushima and Hirota, who were named the BWF Most Improved Players for 2017, continue to rise in the rankings and have their sights set on winning the World Championship and the Asian Games.
