Hosts China Dominate the BWF Sudirman Cup 2019 Final

China demonstrated their dominance in the TOTAL BWF Sudirman Cup 2019 final, surprising fans with their impressive performance against Japan. The Chinese representatives showcased their skill and talent, continuing China’s strong hold on the title. Throughout the tournament’s history, China has only failed to win the trophy five times in sixteen editions.

In the final, China took the lead with a remarkable performance in the men’s doubles match. The world champions, Li Junhui and Liu Yuchen, displayed their prowess and proved to be too formidable for their Japanese opponents, Hiroyuki Endo and Yuta Watanabe. The Chinese duo’s relentless attack, coupled with the unwavering support from the home crowd, led them to a resounding victory of 21-18, 21-10 in just 54 minutes.

Liu Yuchen’s exceptional display of dynamic attack and flawless defense was a key factor in China’s triumph. When reflecting on their undefeated streak in the tournament, Liu stated, “This experience has definitely improved our ability to adapt in big match situations.”

Following the men’s doubles match, Chen Yufei secured another win for China in a thrilling battle against Akane Yamaguchi. The match lasted an intense 81 minutes, with both players showcasing their skills and exchanging the lead throughout. However, Shi Yuqi showcased his exceptional form and secured a stunning comeback victory against Momota, winning with a score of 15-21, 21-5, 21-11.

Shi Yuqi’s unexpected triumph came as a surprise to both players and spectators. Reflecting on his win, Shi remarked, “I played badly in the first game. I am surprised I won the second and third game so easily. It’s really unexpected.” His dominant performance, especially in the third game, left no room for a Japanese comeback.
