In a thrilling match at the MetLife BWF World Superseries tour, Singaporean duo Terry Hee and Tan Wei Han came close to a stunning victory against the dominant Mixed Doubles pair, Lu Kai and Huang Yaqiong.

At 19-15 in the decider, Hee and Tan had the audience on their feet, anticipating an upset. However, Lu and Huang showed their class and fought back to level the score. Despite having a match point, Hee hit into the net, allowing Lu and Huang to take the victory at 21-20.

The Chinese duo credited their determination and confidence for the win, while Hee admitted that their inexperience played a role in their loss. Tan remained optimistic, acknowledging that they exceeded their expectations and believing that they can improve further.

In other matches, India’s B. Sumeeth Reddy and Ashwini Ponnappa, Korea’s Kim Gi Jung and Shin Seung Chan, and Chinese Taipei’s Wang Chi-Lin and Lee Chia Hsin advanced to the quarter-finals in Mixed Doubles.

In Women’s Doubles, Christinna Pedersen and Kamilla Rytter Juhl showed their strength by defeating another Chinese pair, Bao Yixin and Yu Xiaohan. They praised their fighting spirit as a key factor in their success.

The Men’s Doubles quarter-finals promise to be an exciting battle, featuring top pairs like Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo of Indonesia, Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong of Malaysia, and Lee Jhe-Huei and Lee Yang of Chinese Taipei.
