The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has curated an exceptional lineup of experts for the BWF World Coaching Conference 2019 in Basel, Switzerland on August 22-23. This conference, held alongside the TOTAL BWF World Championships and BWF Para-Badminton World Championships, will feature renowned guest speakers who will touch upon various intriguing topics such as elite badminton coaching, sports coaching, Para sport, and sports science.

One of the key speakers at the event is Allistair McCaw, a world-renowned sports performance consultant and mindset coach. With 24 years of experience working with Olympians, Paralympians, world champions, and Grand Slam tennis champions, McCaw is excited to share his knowledge and expertise with the badminton community.

Another prominent figure in the badminton coaching world is Lars Uhre. As the head coach of the International Badminton Academy, Uhre has worked with national teams from Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, and New Zealand. His coaching prowess led the Danish team to victory in the BWF Men’s Team World Championships in 2016, as well as several Olympic and World Championships medals.

Uhre emphasizes the importance of peer-to-peer coaching in fostering the growth of elite badminton players. He looks forward to collaborating with other high-performance coaches and inspiring them in their work with top-class players.

David Cabello, Chair of BWF Development and Sport for All Committee, expressed the organization’s commitment to raising the standard of coaching in the sport of badminton. He believes that the caliber of the speakers at the conference reflects this dedication, as they are well-informed, educated, and talented individuals who will contribute to the growth of coaches within the badminton system.

Penny Briscoe OBE, the Director of Sport at the British Paralympic Association (BPA), will also be joining the panel. With her extensive experience as Chef de Mission for the Great Britain Paralympic teams, Briscoe has played a pivotal role in supporting British Para sports athletes and driving the development of Para sport. Her contributions have challenged perceptions and broken down barriers, leading to Great Britain’s success at the Paralympic Games.
