An Exciting Battle for the Suhandinata Cup

A total of 41 teams will compete for the highly coveted team trophy, the Suhandinata Cup. The teams were placed into seven groups of five and one group of six during the draw at the Badminton World Federation’s office. The seeding for the teams was based on the World Junior rankings of 23 August 2018.

Following the round-robin stage, the top-ranked teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals to compete for the trophy, while the remaining teams will fight for overall placings.

The Road to the Quarter-Finals

In the quarter-finals, the top teams from Group A will face off against the top teams from Group B, Group C will compete against Group D, Group E will battle Group F, and Group G will take on Group H.

Defending champions and top seeds China find themselves in Group A1 alongside Australia and Germany. Group A2 consists of Netherlands, New Zealand, and Hong Kong. As Group A is the only group with two sub-groups, there will be an additional play-off for the top-ranked position of Group A for qualification to the quarter-finals.
