The Women’s Doubles pairs in the BWF competition are gearing up for the final of the European Games. Chloe Birch and Lauren Smith, who are unseeded, have continued their winning streak from the Sudirman Cup and have proven to be unstoppable in Minsk. They secured a spot in the final after defeating France’s third seeds Emilie Lefel and Anne Tran with a score of 21-13, 21-13. Birch and Smith displayed dominance in their matches and executed their game plan flawlessly.
The duo will meet the fourth seeds Selena Piek and Cheryl Seinen of the Netherlands in the final. Piek and Seinen emerged victorious in a thrilling match against the Russian second seeds Ekaterina Bolotova and Alina Davletova, with a score of 18-21, 22-20, 21-14. Piek and Seinen fought for every point and managed to capitalize on their opponents’ nerves in the second game, securing a well-deserved win.

In the men’s doubles category, the top seeds from Denmark, Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, will be competing against Marcus Ellis and Chris Langridge, the second seeds, for the gold medal. Ellis and Langridge, representing Great Britain, have previously demonstrated their capabilities in multi-sport events, winning bronze at the Rio Olympics 2016 and gold at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games 2018. They showcased their skills in the semifinals by defeating Jelle Maas and Robin Tabeling with a score of 21-18, 21-16.
The current European champions, Astrup and Rasmussen, also secured their spot in the final after defeating Vladimir Ivanov and Ivan Sozonov, the 2015 silver medallists, with scores of 21-17, 21-17. Astrup expressed his delight at playing at such a high level and enjoying the experience, highlighting the importance of performing well at a multi-sport event. Rasmussen added that being in the final was a significant achievement for them.
