Africa

The African AirBadminton Friendly Challenge made history as the first tournament of its kind on the continent. Held in Kampala, Uganda on October 25th, the event attracted 36 players from eight countries and 20 officials from nine countries. The tournament took place on a hockey pitch near the badminton hall and coincided with the All-Africa Senior Championships. Notably, the event served as a training ground for African Technical Officials and Badminton Confederation Africa officials and event managers. Players and passersby alike were captivated by the excitement of AirBadminton.

Middle East

Lebanon played host to the launch of AirBadminton in the Middle East. The event, held on November 7th in Beirut, witnessed the participation of over 75 players. National players, both able-bodied and Para badminton athletes, took part in engaging and friendly games on four courts with surfaces like artificial grass and sand. This unique experience received an overwhelmingly positive response, with participants eager to learn more about AirBadminton and express their interest in future activities.

Asia

The Badminton Asia Confederation officially introduced the AirBadminton project on December 18th in Penang, Malaysia. The event, which took place on Batu Ferringhi beach, included a friendly competition involving esteemed badminton figures such as Rashid Sidek and Cheah Liek Hou, who shared their expertise and passion for the game. The regional launch aimed to encourage Asian countries to embrace AirBadminton and leverage the outdoor game to foster the growth of badminton as a sport.

Europe

Spain hosted engaging AirBadminton activities alongside the ElPozo BWF World Senior Badminton Championships 2021 and TotalEnergies BWF World Championships 2021 in Huelva. The activities aimed to increase the popularity of AirBadminton by providing spectators with a safe and enjoyable experience. As many as 4,500 schoolchildren had the opportunity to try out the game. The Spanish Badminton Federation plans to continue implementing AirBadminton, taking advantage of the country’s ideal outdoor locations for the sport.
