The draw for the 2023 YONEX All England Open Badminton Championships is out, and there are some thrilling match-ups to look forward to. The action kicks off on March 14 at the Utilita Arena, and fans can expect plenty of exciting clashes over the following days.

Women’s Singles Draw

In the women’s singles draw, defending champion and world No.1 Akane Yamaguchi is the top seed. She will face Denmark’s Mia Blichfeldt in her opening match. Another highlight of the draw is the clash between fourth seed and 2019 champion Chen Yu Fei and Michelle Li.

Second seed An Se Young starts her title charge against Chinese Taipei’s Wen Chi Hsu. If she advances, she could potentially face seventh seed Carolina Marin in the quarter-finals. Marin, the 2016 champion, has an intriguing opening round match against Scotland’s Kirsty Gilmour.

Tai Tzu Ying, the third seed, will begin her quest for a fourth YONEX All England title against South Korea’s Kim Ga Eun. She could face fifth seed He Bing Jiao in the quarter-finals and potentially set up a semi-final showdown with An Se Young.

Men’s Singles Draw

In the men’s singles draw, top seed Viktor Axelsen aims to defend his crown and secure his third title in Birmingham. He starts his mission against Lee Cheuk Yiu. The Danish player could face eighth seed Loh Kean Yew in the quarter-finals.

Second seed Jonatan Christie faces China’s Weng Hong Yang in the opening round. If he advances, he could potentially meet sixth seed Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the last eight. The first round also features an intriguing match between 2019 winner Kento Momota and Kunlavut Vitidsarn.

Women’s Doubles Draw

In the women’s doubles draw, top seeds Chen Qing Chen and Jia Yi Fan, who were champions in 2019, begin their campaign against Rin Iwanaga and Kie Nakanishi. Kim So Yeong and Kong Hee Yong, the sixth seeds, are their projected quarter-final opponents.

Defending champions Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida are the second seeds and will face Catherine Choi and Josephine Wu in the opening round. Eighth seeds Apriyani Rahayu and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti could be their quarter-final opponents.

Men’s Doubles Draw

In the men’s doubles draw, there is a highly anticipated clash between sixth seeds Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty and former champions Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo, who won the title in 2017 and 2018. Top seeds Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto face Kang Min Hyuk and Seo Seung Jae in their opening match.

Mixed Doubles Draw

Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino, who are looking for their third consecutive mixed doubles crown, are the second seeds in Birmingham. They will start their campaign against Tang Chun Man and Tse Ying Suet. Top seeds Zheng Si Wei and Huang Ya Qiong face Mathias Thyrri and Amalie Magelund in their opener.
